WHEREAS the Municipality of French River has numerous private and seasonal roads that were originally intended for summer cottage use; and WHEREAS the construction of permanent residences on these roads has increased and residents on these private and seasonal roads are requesting services for the maintenance of these roads; and WHEREAS the Official Plan, O. Reg. 586/06 and Municipal Policy provides that the Municipality and residents may use Local Improvement Charges as a means to finance the upgrading of private and seasonal roads to municipal highways; and WHEREAS the Clerk of the Municipality has received a petition requesting the upgrade of the private portion of Lafrenière Road consisting of approximately 4.5 kilometre of road. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council hereby deems the Petition as received by the Municipality on October 20, 2021 and that once its sufficiency is determined and certified by the Clerk, that a Local Improvement Charges By-law be prepared to authorize and undertake the necessary improvements to the private portion of Lafrenière Road as a local improvement be presented to Council for consideration.
